Protecting what's left of the natural tooth

The Experience

Protecting what's left of the natural tooth

A dental crown fits over the entire visible surface of a tooth, restoring its shape, size, strength and appearance. Crowns are used when a tooth has more filling than remaining tooth structure, when it has cracked or fractured, after root canal treatment, for significant discolouration, and as anchoring support for a dental bridge.

Treatment Process

How your dental crown is made and fitted.

01

Choosing your crown and preparing the tooth

Under local anaesthetic, the tooth is shaped, an impression taken and sent to our Sydney ceramicists, and a temporary crown placed to protect it while your custom restoration is crafted.

02

Fitting the permanent crown

The permanent crown is tried in, adjusted for fit and bite, then cemented into place — reinforcing the tooth and blending naturally with your surrounding teeth.

03

Recovery and aftercare

Some cold sensitivity is normal for the first few weeks. Brush and floss as usual — with good care, a crown typically lasts 10 to 15 years or longer.
